Questions

1. I have shared with my youth both verbally and in a written format my identity – The values, beliefs, and virtues I stand for.

2. I have on display in my home a list of virtues; I discuss with my youth the strategy I use to choose my virtues; I encouraged my youth to choose their virtues, write them down, post them where we can review; and I taught my youth strategies to implement their virtues daily. I encouraged my youth to write their core beliefs and post it in a place we can review it regularly.

3. Each year, I encourage my youth to develop a written vision (philanthropy) statement. A statement that reflects the impact they want to have on the world before they leave the planet. HINT: These can change as youth grow, develop, and mature.

4. I work hard to expand my youth’s ‘feeling’ words vocabulary. These words are posted in our home. We use the list to find the word/s that most accurately describe our feelings.

5. I work hard to expand my youth’s ‘need’ words vocabulary. These words are posted in our home. We use the list to find the word/s that most accurately describe our needs (the need we believe we have that isn’t met based on our emotional state).

6. Before discussing “hot topics” or engaging in emotional discussions, I encourage my youth to use the sentence: I feel… because I need…
